Verbal intake for whistleblowers

Whistleblower voice reporting, transcribed on the reporter's device.

Add an anonymous voice channel alongside your written intake. Reporters can speak instead of typing. Audio is transcribed in the reporter's browser and never reaches your server — fully compliant with the EU Whistleblower Directive.

What it is

Verbal intake for whistleblower reports

Voice reporting lets reporters dictate their report instead of typing it. We transcribe the audio on the reporter's device, store only the text, and never upload the audio. Reporters can choose voice or text input — same report, same encryption, same compliance.

How it works

Three steps, on the reporter's device

From the moment the reporter taps Record, the audio is processed locally. Your server only sees the resulting transcript — never the voice biometric.

1. Reporter speaks

Reporter taps Record, speaks their report. A clear consent screen explains that audio stays on their device.

2. On-device transcription

Audio is transcribed in the browser using open-source speech recognition. The audio file is deleted the moment the transcript is ready.

3. Encrypted report

The transcript is encrypted with the reporter's key, sent through your normal intake flow, and stored as any other report.

Privacy

Audio never leaves the reporter's device

Voice is biometric. Unlike typed text, an audio recording can identify the speaker by voice-print. That's why we keep it on the reporter's device.

Audio deleted immediately

After transcription, the audio is wiped from memory. Nothing is sent to your server or to ours.

Multilingual transcription

Supports 17 languages including English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish and more — same coverage as your written intake.

No voice biometric sent

Even with a text transcript in hand, you're less anonymous than with typed reports. Reporters see this trade-off before they start recording.

Compliance

Aligned with EU Directive Article 10(2)(b)

The EU Whistleblower Directive allows oral reports alongside written ones. Article 10(2)(b) names voice-to-text facilities, voice recordings on dedicated phonelines, and oral reports in person. Voice reporting gives you a compliant oral intake channel without staffing a phone line.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Does voice reporting work offline?+

Speech recognition runs entirely in the reporter's browser, but it does require the model to have been downloaded on first use. After the first recording, subsequent ones work on cached model weights.

Which browsers support voice reporting?+

Current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari, and Firefox. Voice reporting requires a browser with microphone access and WebAssembly support.

What languages can be transcribed?+

The on-device model supports 17 languages: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Dutch, Polish, Swedish, Danish, Finnish, Portuguese, Czech, Romanian, Hungarian, Estonian, Latvian, Lithuanian.

Is voice reporting EU Directive compliant?+

Yes. The EU Whistleblower Directive Article 10(2)(b) explicitly lists 'voice-to-text facilities' and 'oral reports' as compliant reporting channels. Our implementation matches that provision.

Can I disable voice reporting for some users?+

Yes. Voice input is opt-in per reporter. The same intake form supports both text and voice — reporters choose. No settings to flip, no onboarding needed.

Does voice reporting work on mobile?+

Yes. The voice recorder uses standard browser APIs for microphone capture and works on iOS Safari, Android Chrome, and mobile Firefox.
